Hood FC Crowned 2026 5Stars Premier League Champions After Dominant Final Display We at 5Stars are thrilled to celebrate a landmark moment in Nigerian grassroots football. Hood FC of Abuja have been crowned national champions of the 2026 5Stars Premier League following a commanding 4-1 victory over Lagos-based Sir J FC in the grand finale. The decisive match took place at the Showtime Arena in Lekki, Lagos, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. In a contest that showcased the very best of the competition we have carefully built over the years, Hood FC once again underlined Abuja’s remarkable hold on the title. Since the league’s inception in 2019, no side from outside the capital has lifted the trophy. A streak of regional excellence that continues to define the 5Stars story. The final itself was a tale of two halves. A tightly contested opening period ended 1-1, with both teams trading blows in a high-intensity, fiercely competitive atmosphere. After the break, however, Hood FC raised their level. They produced three unanswered goals, turning the game into a statement of quality, resilience and attacking flair that ultimately secured the championship, the trophy and the N4 million grand prize. This was the eighth edition of the 5Stars Premier League, proudly tagged “The Reawakening 8.” From the data and operations teams tracking every match and performance metric, to the wider 5Stars family on the ground, we watched with pride as the competition once again delivered drama, skill and opportunity. The tournament benefited from outstanding support by our valued corporate partners “MTN Nigeria, PUMA Nigeria and Devon King’s” whose commitment continues to elevate the standard of grassroots football in Nigeria. We were also honoured by the presence and contribution of international grassroots football development advocate Ricky Weir, who provided sporting equipment and took time to engage directly with players at the finals. At 5Stars, we have always believed the league is about more than silverware and prize money. It is a deliberate platform designed to identify, nurture and showcase emerging talent. Across “The Reawakening 8,” young players performed under the eyes of international scouts, football agents and club executives. Several standout individuals have already been placed on the radar for potential professional pathways abroad, exactly the kind of life-changing opportunity we work every day to create. To Hood FC: congratulations on a thoroughly deserved title. To Sir J FC and every participating team: thank you for the competitive spirit that makes this competition special. And to our partners, coaches, officials, volunteers, players and the entire 5Stars community, this success belongs to all of us.The 5Stars Premier League continues to grow as a trusted home for grassroots excellence.
